Spring Birthdays and a Baptism

Grandma turned 60...wow!

It's hard to believe, time goes so fast!

But what a wonderful 60 years it has been!

Having a great husband, with loving kids and grandchildren, it doesn't get better than that!

We had fun celebrating with a special dinner.

I got some roses And a very special dog!

And time with my family!

Cam also celebrated his birthday with a fun family time!

Lindsay celebrated her birthday, too.

As usual, watching Cam blow out the candles on their 'shared' birthday cake.

Brooke's celebrated her 8th Birhday on May 5th!!

Grandma got to pick her up from school and take her out for ice cream.

Wow!!! Is she ever growing up!!

Brooke was baptized by her dad Cameron on Saturday, May 7th at the Riverbend Stake Center in Edmonton.

It was a beautiful baptism, her two Grandpa's gave talks, her two Grandma's said prayers...and her siblings sang " I Love To See The Temple"

"Countdown Kid's" Party

We celebrated our first annual 'Countdown Kids' party on Saturday April 1st, 2016. As I was putting our grandkids birthdays on the calendar this year, I realized that they were each a year apart, but only for a six week period. During our party...Brooke is 7, Ava is 6, McKinley is 5, Joshua is 4, Brynnlee is 3, Colby is 2, and Ivy and Elena are both 1. So...that's just too fun and a reason to celebrate!!

First, we had masks to colour so we could be ready to be players in grandma's story!

Tiff and Elena are making a very lovely kittie face!

Oh look at those cute eyes peeking through!

Then time to feed these hungry critters.

"Thanks for the good food, grandma!"

Josh is telling a big story while McKinley and Mark nod their heads and agree to every word!

Then the bubbles came out and there was no stopping the kids... They loved to blow bubbles to see who could make the biggest!

And...the 'bounce house' was fun for working off some of that ice cream and cake.

Ivy was even in on the action, mom is saying "blow through the wand and bubbles really do come."

I think James actually blew the biggest bubble of the day!

Looks like Grandpa knew it was gonna be a big one, he's preparing himself for the 'pop'.

McKinley and Colby were trying it out with a little help from mom.

But they were sure determined to do it themselves!!

Wow!! And up next...

A piñata, filled to the brim with candy by Uncle Mark.

Go Colby! He's giving it his best effort!!

Uncle Jon is just so close, with Joshie trying to give his dad some some tips.

Grandpa had such a fun time just keeping it out of his reach.

Watch out...Uncle Mark is up to bat.

That stick is moving so fast we couldn't even catch it on the camera.

Uncle Cam's turn, he says...

"Hey dad, enough of that moving it around, I want a good smack on that thing!"

Oh no, Lindsay's up!

Watch out everybody, move way back!!

Colby's looking out for that piñata, but luckily Uncle James is looking out for him!

Brooke is manning the rope for moving the piñata as Ivy and grandma take a turn.

"How come there is no candy coming out of that piñata yet, Ivy??"

After grandma's story Joshie ended up with a precious treasure chest...thanks so much pirate Josh for sharing all the goodies in the treasure chest with all your cousins!

We know that treasure chest is certainly going home with with you!!

You must have become such a good pirate because you had special help from the butterfly girl, Brynnlee.

That's sure nice colouring on your mask, Brynn. That looks exactly like a tropical butterfly!

And Joshie your priate moustache looks just like your daddy's when it grows out!

And these little munchkins are just so adorable in their 'countdown' shirts!

How fun they will have in the coming years as they grow up together!!

And our little princesses, Brooklyn, Ava and Mckinley.

How precious and sweet they are to us!!

At the end of the day, balloons to gather and a party to clean up!

What fun we had and plans are already under way for next years "Countdown Party"!!

K's Funeral in Utah

So my dear brother, K, died on April 14, 2016.

When we received the message late that Thursday evening, we were so sad and shocked.

He death came quicker than we had anticipated so it was so hard to accept for several days.

Doug a I went down to the funeral in Logan, Utah, and that was truly when the comfort came!

So many people came to show love and respect for him, he was such a good man!!

His funeral was on Tuesday, April 19, and what a beautiful funeral it was!!

His wife, Jackie, and his children, Amy, Emily, and Hunter all showed such great strength throughout the viewing and funeral. They each spoke and bore sincere testimony of their beleif that they would see and be with him again...it was so comforting and wonderful!!

Jackie had made a scouting blanket that she had sewed his scouting badges on to. It was beautiful and they draped it on the bottom half of his casket. He was a true scouter, being prepared in everything, even his death. He died very peacefully knowing he had prepared well for his family and was leaving them with no debt and in good hands!

He was buried in the Logan City Cemetery just a few yards from Dad's burial spot.

It was wonderful for the remaining siblings to be together again and visit dad's grave. Here we are...the surviving ones together, Brian, myself, Kevin and Alysa. It was a delight to be with them all again!!

K will be missed, but we know he is having a great reunion with Brad and Dad in heaven!!
