Doug and I took a quick road trip to go see my family in Utah.
Several things were happening down there, so before we went, we made 3 blankets with a Canadian maple leaf pattern to give away on our trip!!
We made a blanket for my brother, K. He is fighting a tough battle with cancer. It was a delight to visit with him and feel of his strength and faith!
He and his wife, Jackie had made us a 'Jean' blanket! We were so excited!! What a coincidence that we would be making each other blankets!
This is them with their daughters Amy and Emily. Their son Hunter, is away serving in the Marines.
A darling family!!
We stayed overnight with mom and Ron in their sweet country home.
It's always such a pleasure to see and visit them.
We also had a visit with my sister, Karla and her family. She has had a very stressful few weeks, even if she doesn't look like it here!
Her youngest son, Jace, was in a very serious truck accident.
Jace was in the hospital for several weeks with 2 broken wrists, broken left elbow, 2 fractures in his jaw, which is wired shut. As well as having his spleen removed, several sutures to his liver and injuries to his back.
It is such a miracle that Jace is now at home and recovering, he is starting to eat some 'soft' foods! Best place to start...Krispy Kreme donuts!!
We had also made blankets for Karla and Jace. We loved giving them their Canadian 'maple leaf' blankets, and they were happy and surprised to get them!
Karla has had a few stressful weeks, so we decided to do a little 'shopping therapy'!
We had a blast at Burlinton's trying everything on, even some great hats!! (I think Karla went back and bought hers- it is fantastic!!)
We even ended buying a matching outfit, even down to the shoes...ohh, it brings back memories of when we were little and mom used to sew for us!
How fun 'shopping therapy' is with a crazy-fun sister!!
Since shopping isn't their 'thing', The boys went pheasant hunting.
They were highly successful and shot 12 of the poor things!
This is Justin showing them off!
And this is Justin battering and deep frying those pheasants, they were delicious.
He even made his own 'Fantastic Sauce' for dipping them in. Luckily we got the recipe!!
Well done!!
Jace is looking at that delicious plate of pheasant and wishing he could eat the whole plate!! Erika and Miken are just trying to hold back 'til prayer!
What a wonderful trip we had to see our dear family and we were happy to leave some reminders of our love with those blankets!
And while we were away in Utah, our little 'Miss Ivy' fell off a stool and broke her arm. Oh Ivy, we needed a blanket for you, too!!
